Dealing with Stretch Marks

Admin | January 20th, 2010 - 9:14 am

Throughout my career as a certified fitness trainer, I’ve worked with a wide variety of women’s body issues.  One of the primary issues that women face are stretch marks which can result from pregnancies or large amounts of weight loss. In either of these cases there are effective solutions that can help reduce visibility of the stretch markets through natural methods and training. You don’t have to worry about stretch marks impairing your physical image for too long since you can implement reliable solutions to improve your body.

A majority of women experience stretch mark problems over the course of their life so you’re not alone. As a result, scientists have come up with a wide variety of potential solutions including topical treatments, dietary adjustments and exercise routines. By working to reverse stretch marks at an early age, you can begin making vast improvements in your overall appearance.

Topical and Nutrition Treatments for Stretch Marks

There are a variety of natural, topical treatments which individuals I train have had success with. Some great topical nutrition solutions include glycolic acid treatments such as Ultra Smoothing Lotion, as well as Vitamin C compounds which can help improve skin health and repair damaged cells. Another great vitamin-based solution is Retin-A, which is a highly concentrated source of Vitamin A to improve skin tone.

Laser Based Surgery to Remove Stretch Marks

For those who want more drastic, immediate results, laser surgery can help improve natural collagen production and improve the tone, texture and appearance of the skin.

Physical Training for Rotator Cuff Degeneration

Admin | January 20th, 2010 - 9:05 am

When I began pursuing weight lifting seriously as a youth and into my years in National Service, I experienced rotator cuff problems. An important muscle for lifting and team sports such as baseball and basketball, properly restoring your rotator cuff requires careful physical training and may even require surgery for some people. Always have your shoulder fully analyzed by a medical professional to determine whether more serious treatment is needed. For many people who have minor shoulder problems, back exercises and training can help restore more flexibility and strength.

While I worked hard to overcome my rotator cuff degeneration over time, it’s important to take proper care of the shoulder joint muscles and tendons. You have a number of options to overcome rotator cuff problems depending on your timely, injury severity and required range of motion for your particular sports and activities. Meeting with a medical professional can help you properly determine the most effective treatment for your particular needs.

Understanding Rotator Cuff Mechanics and Treatment

To better understand how exactly to repair a degenerative rotator cuff tear, it’s important to understand the muscles which comprise the area. In particular, the supraspinatus is the most common muscle hurt since it is directly involved in rotating the arm. While the joint and muscles can become inflamed as a result, treatment focuses in reducing inflammation and improving blood flow to allow for natural healing. When working with a trainer, make sure you let him or her know about the extent of your injuries so they can more effectively define a proper course of treatment.

Dealing with Depression

Admin | January 20th, 2010 - 8:15 am

As I grew up, I came to cope with depression and mental health issues like many other people. While there is no single medical cure or protective element against depression, it’s possible to work through the issue with a combination of medical, social and therapy options. Today, I’m a high functioning individual who has fitness certification and a successful professional career. Starting Triumph Point helped me to develop the motivation to assist others with obstacles they face in everyday life.

While those suffering from severe depression should always refer to a mental health professional, people looking for a basic boost or daily adjustment can rely upon a series of tips, lifestyle adjustments and dietary modifications in order to overcome their emotions.  While each person is unique and different, I truly believe these steps can open up new ideas and help you to move toward a more stable, happy life.

Ways to Improve Your Mood Naturally

  • Add More Omega-3s to your Diet

Research has shown that Omega-3 fatty acids can help improve mood by providing healthy fats that improve brain functions. You can add Omega-3 sources to your diet through fish such as salmon, supplements or flax seed oil.

  • Begin Regular Exercise

Being active can improve your mood by providing endorphins into your blood stream. Further, you can improve your overall health by staying healthy and having a lot of energy.

  • Participate in Community and Arts Events

While you may be tempted to stay inside, I’ve found that going out and learning, meeting people and improving yourself can help improve your mood.

Correcting Your Posture Problems

Admin | January 18th, 2010 - 9:16 am

Even fit athletes and strong working professionals often suffer from back, neck and body posture problems. Often times these issues are caused by muscle aches or spinal alignments – in most cases, however, it’s possible to make small steps toward improving your posture. Having proper posture shows you’re confident, poised and ready to tackle the day. By having good posture you’ll signal to the world your readiness to tackle various challenges, and will attract the interest of others.
In order to begin improving your posture there are a variety of physical and psychological steps you can take to shift into better performance. Whether your problems stem from too hard of lifting on the job or too much time sitting down in front of a machine, the right workout routine and training regimen can help you adjust these problems in less time. Those with sever posture problems should always consult a medical professional for alignment issues while minor problems can often be overcome through work:

Utilize Selective Exercises to Improve Posture

For those who suffer from tight muscles or pain in the back area, selective back exercises can improve the muscles around your stomach wall and back. Rather than leaning over, you can roll your shoulders back with confidence and stretching can further help you overcome these problems. A good stretch is to lean into a bar at the gym and stretch your lower back, as well as lying on your stomach and outreaching your hands (known as a Superman stretch) – these two exercises strengthen the core muscles which help you to stand straight. Core exercises such as pull ups, sit ups and whole body exercises such as swimming will further improve your posture.

Change Up Your Day with Walks, Outdoor Activities

If your day is full of too much work in front of a computer, mix it up by getting outdoors for a brisk walk, hiking or other adventures. Helping your body to get proper exercise can open up the senses and help use underutilized muscles. Never sit at your desk too long – use your breaks to mix up the scenery and stretch out a bit. At the same time, if you have a physically challenging job, a nice leisurely walk and stretching, with an occasional massage during off days, can help improve your overall body fitness.
